Diane Musselman is a writer, producer, and director. Born and raised in southern Illinois, Diane moved to California in 1981. In 1994, she completed her master’s degree at California State University, Northridge, in Speech Pathology.
In 2008, Diane, along with three fellow actors, created a production company called Chocolate Old Fashioned Productions. The company produced two short films HMMM and Unrequited. In 2013, Diane moved on to launch Dancing Forward Productions, where she wrote and served as Executive Producer on her first award-winning short film, Just Another Dance With My Father, starring Jerrika Hinton of Amazon Prime’s wildly acclaimed Hunters.
Since 2013, Diane has been a co-producer on Turnover (Feature Film, available on Amazon & tubi), Passage (Short Film), and Cat Dexx: Inkosi (Short Film). She has served as a co-executive producer on the award-winning, Last Call At Murray’s (Feature Film, available on tubi), an executive producer on the web series Carbon Dating and the award-winning short film, Intervention (currently on the festival circuit); and was a producer on award-winning The Peck Situation (Short Film) and Look (Music Video).
In 2017, she co-wrote and served as executive producer on the concept short, Afterthoughts, and in 2019 Diane wrote, produced and debuted as a director in the dramatic short film, Harmony and was an associate producer on Everything In the End (Feature Film). Last year she returned to the director’s chair for the short film, The Monologue, for which she earned the Vanguard Award Achievement in Directing - Short Film at the Scotland International Festival of Cinema.
Currently Diane is in production as a producer on a documentary about young stroke survivors titled Code Stroke.
Born and raised in southern Illinois, Diane Musselman participated in music and drama throughout her childhood years. This includes playing first chair flute in her high school band as well as acting in school theater productions. She moved to California in 1981 and received her Bachelors and Master’s Degree at California State University, Northridge, in Speech Pathology.
During those years, she continued to act on stage and in commercials, most notably in The Elephant Man and The Good Doctor. During her acting studies she met three other actors in search of good acting projects who decided to create a production company called Chocolate Old Fashioned Productions. This company produced two short films HMMM and Unrequited.
From there she moved on to create Dancing Forward Productions where she discovered a new love of writing and producing. This resulted in a script she wrote called Just Another Dance With My Father where she also served as executive producer. The film is the proud recipient of the Gold Remi awarded at WorldFest Houston.
Diane continues to work on expanding Dancing Forward Productions and developing her writing, producing, and acting skills. She is the co-writer and producer of Afterthoughts, a movie based on the book of the same title by author Lynn Tincher, now in pre-production. She is currently in production for the Afterthoughts prequel, tentatively titled Afterthoughts, The Beginning. In recent years, Diane was a co-executive producer on the feature film Last Call at Murray’s, and executive producer on the award-winning web series Carbon Dating. She is also pleased to have produced the 2016 music video, Look, for singer/songwriter Nina Paolicelli. In 2017, Diane was thrilled to be a co-producer on Passage and Cat Dexx:Inkosi. She was a producer on The Peck Situation, currently in post-production. Also in post-production in 2018; Afterthoughts, which she co-wrote and produced.
